Source: Barbara E. Kemp: 1880 census of Hopewell Twp., Ohio- I found Charles and James E. Kemp. In the 1880 Ohio Census for Hopewell Township in Seneca County, there is an entry for James E. Kemp and his wife Adaline. There also appears to be a daughter in the household, but I cannot quite decipher the name. It may be Cora or Ida. All inhabitants list Canada as their birthplace. In any event, the neighboring property lists the family of Charles M. Kemp (also born in Canada). The children listed are James Earl and Myrtle (or Myrtie). The census was conducted in June of 1880. In July, my grandfather, Lloyd Newton Kemp, was born. I do not yet have his birth certificate, but I believe he also is the son of Charles M. Lloyd later married Cora Cook and had two children, Charles Donald and Nellie May.
