a. Note:   James Robert Steen Sr., 83, of Bowling Green died at 2:15 p.m. Aug. 2, 2009, at a Bowling Green nursing home. The Hiseville native was born Aug. 25, 1925. He was owner of Steen Concrete Products, a member of First Baptist Church, a World War II Navy veteran, former president of the Homebuilders Association and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and golf. He was a son of the late Burke Steen and Blanche Thompson Steen and husband of the late Clara Jean Steen. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul T. Steen and Harold Steen. Survivors include two sons, James Robert Steen Jr. and his wife, Marnie, and Charles William Steen and his wife, Leslie, all of Bowling Green; a daughter, Melissa K. Steen Grant and her husband, Dan, of Lexington; a brother, Jack Steen and his wife, Diane, of Memphis; a sister, Virginia Murphy of Bowling Green; 11 grandchildren, Robert Samuel Steen, Allison Parker Steen, Sidney Wilson Steen, Emily Anne Mullen, Carolyn Elizabeth Carpenter, Mary Hannah Grant, Rachel Catherine Grant, William Hawkins Steen, Nickolaus Cooper Steen, Elizabeth Blevins and Hillary Blevins; and a great-grandson, Coleson James Grant. Funeral is at 1 p.m. Wednesday at J.C. Kirby and Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery No. 1.
