Note: The Rev. Emmett Locke, 85, of Hodgenville, joined his Lord in heaven on Saturday, July 31, 2010, surrounded by his family and friends, following a brief illness. "Brother Emmett, as he was affectionately known, will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but we must remember that he left this world to spend an eternity of happiness with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ." He was born April 17, 1925, to the late Rice Warren and Rosie Locke, the youngest of eight children. He professed his faith in Jesus Christ at an early age, became an ordained Baptist minister in 1952 and was a member of Aetna Union Baptist Church in Hart County. He enlisted in the Army in 1943 and served with the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. Before separating in 1946, he received several medals including the Purple Heart for wounds received in Holland in 1944. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Locke, in 1997; four brothers; three sisters; and a great-grandson. He is survived by his children, Juanita Kay (Ray) Meredith of Hodgenville, Lynda (Raymond) Barnes of Buffalo, Ronnie (Diane) Locke of Upton, Norma Jean (Charles) Mann of Lebanon Junction, Jimmy (Caffey) Locke of Hodgenville, Dennis (Trisha) Locke of Buffalo and Sandra (Tommy) Buley, David (Dee) Locke, Jane Kelley and Kevin Brewer, all of Hodgenville; a special niece and nephew, Carolyn and Ray Riggs of Upton; a brother-in-law, Adrian Dye of Magnolia; 31 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 27 stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. The funeral is at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia, with Brother Junior Milby, Brother Dennis Estes and Brother Gatton Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Memorial Church Cemetery in Hodgenville
