Note: orenzo Sabine: Evan Cameron, In 1782 Loyalist Associator "at New York to settle at Shelburne, Nova Scotia, the following year. Evan had a family of eight persons." For Ewen Cameron's claims as a Loyalist to the British Government see A.O.13-25 (Audit Office, American Loyalist Claims, Series II, No. 25, New Claims, Nova Scotia including re Sloop "James." Public Record Office, London. He states "Upon my being taken Prisoner and confined by the Rebels in Elizabeth Town Goal [sic], these Goods were confiscated & sold by order of the Rebel Commissioners..." and "after making my Escape from Elizabeth Town Goal [sic] I retired to Staten Island and having commenced business there and settled comfortably the Rebels, under the command of Genl Stirling, made a descent upon the Island and plundered (some?) of these Goods..." dated March 16, 1786. "Ewen Cameron, late of Clyde River Farmer," died intestate and "Charles Brown of Shelburne in the County of Shelburne, Shop-keeper," the husband of Ewen's daughter, Agnes, asked for and was granted administration of his estate.
