Note: Reno Gazette-Journal, July 8, 2006 Ernest and Julie DeRicco THEY MET IN A LETTER.... In 1942, Ernest DeRicco was in the Military Service, when a friend shar ed with him a picture of his beautiful friend, Julia. The beauty of this f air lady consumed Ernie's thoughts and dreams. He was given the opportuni ty to correspond with Julie in letters written throughout his term in Wor ld War II. Ernie and Julie agreed to meet for the first time in New Have n, Connecticut during Ernie's leave granted by the Military. At first glan ce and little time, Ernie and Julie discovered that their lives were mea nt to be spent together. On August 7, 1943, Ernie and Julie married in t he very town in which they met. In 1945, Ernie and Julie ventured to Sparks, Nevada where they began the ir family, adding two sons to the DeRicco name. Their sons Ernest A. DeRic co, Jr., and Alan DeRicco, have since blessed the family with their wive s, Vicky (MacDonald) DeRicco and Kathy (Clark) DeRicco, and four grandchil dren, Christopher DeRicco, Joey DeRicco, Angela DeRicco Wilber and Jason D eRicco. Ernie has since retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after 46 ye ars and Julie from the gaming industry after 42 years, providing them ti me to spend with their soon to be 7 great-grandchildren. In celebration of this joyous event, the DeRicco family had a wonderful di nner enjoyed with lots of Love and Laughter. We love you!! Happy 60th Anniversary RGJ.com
