Note: NI13 Salvatore D. Mulea Sr. 1944-2019 Salvatore D. Mulea Sr., loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, of Moosic, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. He was born in the West Side section of Scranton in July 3, 1944, and was the son of the late Andrew and Mary Berefatto Peranich. He was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. Sal was a 1961 graduate of West Side High School; he then joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Cold War era. Sal worked many years for Skettino Markets, West Side, and retired from the Tobyhanna Army Depot. After retirement, he worked for Gerrity's Supermarkets. Sal was a life member of the R&L Civic Club. He was an avid Penn State football fan and was famous for his tailgate omelets; he enjoyed attending home games with his family and best friend, Jason Blew. He enjoyed many trips to Reno, Nev., with his wife to visit his friends with whom he served in the military. He also enjoyed his trips to Mohegan Sun Pocono casino, Plains Twp. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Patricia Krisiewicz; his children, Salvatore Jr. and his wife, Paula, Moosic; Michael and his wife, Julie, Avoca; and his daughter Christina, Moosic; grandchildren, Alicia, Ashleigh, Matthew and Sara; and his great-granddaughter, Shelby Grace. Also surviving are his siblings, Thomas Mulea, Arizona; Andrew Peranick and wife Sandra, Scranton; Ralph Peranich and wife, Barbara, Scranton; his sister, Andrea Peranich, Peckville; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Martin Moran, Dr. Chris Peters and staff, Dr. Lisa Thomas and staff, the NROC Center, and a special thank you to Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their wonderful care and kindness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca, with the Rev. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea. Due to inclement weather, family and friends are asked to go directly to the church for the Mass. There will be no procession from the funeral home. AMVETS honor guard will provide military honors. Interment will be held in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Avoca. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 340 Montage Mountain Rd., Moosic, PA 18507.
