Note: Was a stage actress and acted on Broadway. Also owned herownTheatrical Company which toured the US and Europe. She wasthevioce of the wicked queen in the 1937 relaease of Disney'sSnowWhite and the Seven Dwarfs Actress. Born Lucille Mitchum in Nashville, Tennessee in 1869 (orpossibly 1872), she began acting on stage as a child. She made her NewYork stage debut in 1888 while still a teen and seven years later hadher own theatrical company which toured the United States and Europeperforming before the crowned heads of Europe. She made her film debutin "Over Night" (1915). Her film credits included: "Orphans of theStorm" (1921); and "The Last Moment" (1928). She excelled at witches,old hags and other bedraggled types. With a small build, long-hair,very intense eyes, and a husky voice, she was a consummateprofessional, sacrificing her looks for her craft. She has beenvariously billed as Lucille La Varney, Lucille La Varnie, LucileLaVerne, Lucille LaVerne, Lucille Lavarney, Lucille Laverne or LucilleQ. Scott. Her ‘talkie’ debut was "Little Caesar" (1930) with Edward G.Robinson. Her appearances also included: "Abraham Lincoln" (1930);"Sinner's Holiday" (1930); "24 Hours" (1931); "An American Tragedy"(1931); "While Paris Sleeps" (1932) and "A Tale of Two Cities" (1935).Her most famous role, however, was probably that of the evil Queen inDisney’s first full length feature animation “Snow White and the SevenDwarves”. It was also her last role. She retired from the industry andopened a night club. She died in Culver City, California at age 75.
