"Two children one older boy in Army in Texas, Jimmy, and Don." Ruth Winterburn Loughridge, 9 Jun 1970] "She was better known as Dessie and we understood was the youngest of a large family. She fell from a horse as a young girl and broke her pelvic bone and was told she could never have children. These are some things I remember my Dad telling me. Her first child was a girl but apparently died in the birth process. Next was Albert Dewy Steen born in about 1898. Next Harry Donald Steen, later changed to Donald Harry (our father) born April 16, 1899. Then there were one, maybe two daughters born that died in infancy. I remember seeing framed fancy calligraphy names surrounded by a very fancy swirled art work done by a family member in memory of these babies. We do not know what became of them-the names were perhaps Helen and Violet. Next was Edward Power Steen born around 1903. He still lives in Fresno, Calif., and last was James Wesley Steen born 1910." [Lucy Steen Duncan, November 1997] "Our daughter recently obtained a copy of the death certificate (Hadessab Hagerman Steen) from Vital Records and showed she died of pancreatic cancer and choleriptitis. Her father was George, Mother Hannah Swogger Hagerman." [Naomi Steen Gorrell, November 6, 1997)
