Note: Capt. Perry T. JOHNSON USNR. Born Portland Maine as an only child. His father, Perry S. JOHNSON, was a Sargent in the US Army stationed at Ft. Williams, Cape Elizabeth, Maine. He died when Perry was 11 years old. Perry was always interested in radio as a child and became a radio operator aboard several cruise ships. In 1937 he became a radio operator/navagator for Pan American Airlines and served on Boeing 305s on the South America routes till just before WWII. In June 1942 he was Commissioned in the Navy as a reserve officer, served in Londerry, Ireland Sept 1943 - Sept 1945 as base commander during the war. Joined the CIA after the war in 1949 as one of the original staff in communications and rose to Deputy Director Communications in 1963 where he served until his death in 1965. Also, remained active in the Navy Reserve and attained the rank of Captain USNR. Perry died at his home of a heart attack at Pekay Street, Vienna, VA. two days after the marriage of his son Larry Johnson to Mary Louise Davis. They remember him at the wedding party as being very happy in his last days. We believe that the heart attack was caused by stress in his job at the CIA.
