  1901 England Census Lived at 4 Railway Cottages, Falmouth, Cornwall, Age; 5, Enumerated with his Father, 2 sisters, 2 brothers. His father was a Widower age 38, worked as a Railway Forman, Cornwall, Born St. Kevern
  1911 England Census Age 16, single, worked as an Engine Fitter Apprentice, from Par Cornwall, Nationality British. Enumerated with his Father, Step Mother, 3 sisters, 3 brothers. His father listed as Married, worked as a Railway Employee, born St. Kevern Cornwall, British.
  1914 Cox & Company apprentiship Harry Bertram James White entered an agreement with his father William White in 1914 to apprentice as an Engine Fitter with Cox & Company for 5 years and 2 months. He would be paid one shilling per week for the first year, 2 shillings for the second year and so on rising one shilling per week for each succeeding year for the said term from 27 Mar 1911 to 27 May 1916.

  1919 Bargate Steam Shipping Co. Ltd. Letter of Reference: this is to certify that the bearer Mr. H. B. White has served under me on the above steamer as 2nd Engineer from 19 Aug 1919 until the above date. During the whole of this time he has conducted himself in an exemplary manner. Being at all times strictly sober and attentive to his duties and a competent workman. I have great pleasure in recommending him to any one requiring his services in any similar position.
