  Muthof originally belonged to the Lord of D�rn, and gradually came into the hands of the Abbacy of Sch�nthal. Muthof was in the territory of W�rttemberg beginning in 1803. W�rttemberg became part of Germany in 1815. Muthof was in Jagstkreis 1818-1924; it was in Landkreis K�nzelsau 1924-1973; since 1973 it has been in Hohenlohekreis. The states of Baden and W�rttemberg were joined together in 1952. Muthof was incorporated into Gemainde Forchtenberg in 1972. In 1910 the population of Muthof was 258, in 1933 the population was 268 and in 1939 the population was 260.
