a. Note:   Godfather was Johann Joseph Eck. Witnessed by Franz Hoos and Lorenz Kohl (both of Rineck). Conscripted in the Confederate Army on 2nd February 1864 with Company A, 5th Battalion (Local Defence), captured by the Yankees at Bottoms Bridge (New Kent County) on 11th June 1864, transferred from Point Lookout, Maryland to Elmira, New York on 12th July 1864, on 31st July 1864 wished to take the Oath of Allegiance and go to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, escaped 15th April 1865. He was living in the Little Sisters of the Poor home for the aged at the time of his death.
