Notes
a. Note:   During the Middle Ages Altenhof was in the territory of the Abbacy of Fulda until 1752 when it became the Bishopric of Fulda. Information about what happened after 1803 is a bit confusing, but it seems that during the infamous Secularisation of 1803 the territory came into the possession of Electorate of Hesse until 1807 when it became part of the Kingdom of Westphalia. In 1813 the Electorate of Hesse was restored. In 1866 it became part of the Prussian Province of Hesse-Nassau. (At some point it may have been part of Bavaria) In 1946 the modern state of Hesse was formed. Altenhof was in Landkreis Gersfeld 1867-1932 and since 1932 it has been in Landkreises Fulda. Altenhof was incorporated into Gemainde Ebersburg in 1972. In 1910 the population of Altenhof was 157, in 1925 the population was 172, in 1933 the population was 175 and in 1939 the population was 161.
According to information I found online Gerhard Halbleib was born 29th May 1770 in Altenhof and departed this life 10th February 1862 in Altenhof. He was the son of Kaspar Halbleib (born 4th April 1739 in Altenhof and departed this life 6th May 1770 in Altenhof) and his wife Eva Elisabeth (born 1734 and departed this life 30th October 1774 in Altenhof), who were married 1763. Kaspar Halbleib was the son of Gerhard Halbleib (born 1712 and departed this life 1790) and his wife Barbara Fischerin, who were married 22nd September 1738 in Sankt Jakobus Kirche in Thalau.
