Notes
a. Note:   During the Middle Ages Wehl-bei-Weyhers was in the territory of the Abbacy of Fulda until 1752 when it became the Bishopric of Fulda. Information about what happened after 1803 is a bit confusing, but it seems that during the infamous Secularisation of 1803 the territory came into the possession of Electorate of Hesse until 1807 when it became part of the Kingdom of Westphalia. In 1813 the Electorate of Hesse was restored. In 1866 it became part of the Prussian Province of Hesse-Nassau. (At some point it may have been part of Bavaria) In 1946 the modern state of Hesse (Hessen) was formed. Wehl-bei-Weyhers is divided into Oberwehl and Unterwehl (I'm not sure which one the Reith family lived in), and is located approximately 1 miles (2 Kilometres) south of the town of Weyhers. Oberwehl and Unterwehl were in Landkreis Gersfeld 1867-1932 and since 1932 it has been in Landkreis Fulda. Oberwehl and Unterwehl were incorporated into Gemainde Ebersburg in 1972. I have not found the population for Oberwehl and Unterwehl, but it was most likely included with the town of Weyhers, which in 1910 had a population of 523, in 1933 the population was 531 and in 1939 the population was 564.
