Entered the River Brethren ministry in 1840. Responsible for organizing the church in Stillwater Valley. The church became Brethren in Christ in 1853. Involved in the Wengerite congregations. OH Married Catherine (Slotterbeck\Sleiderbeck) Sterrin, 1809.10 1878.7.19,, (i) ^ on Sept. 12, 1848 All three buried in the Wenger Cem. Butler Twp., Mont. Co., OH on his father's farm. (71-11) JWW He (or his father) purchased a grist mill (believed to be on the Wenger property west of the original homestead) and converted it into a woolen mill. The mill was erected by Andrew Yount and stood near the road then known as the Little York Road. John learned the woolen trade. When he died the mill passed to his sonLevi but the mill then burned after a few years after a fire started in the dyeroom. Date of death has been given as 1879.1.28 He died of apoplexy.
