Notes
a. Note:   Levi Alonzo Waymire, mechanic, pattern maker, carpenter, contractor, inventor and promoter, was born in Butler Township, near Englewood, Montgomery County, Ohio, August 3, 1856.
He received his education from the public schools of Butler Township. He worked on the farm and during his spare time assisted his father, who taught him the carpenter's trade. When a young man, he learned the pattern trade in Dayton, Ohio.
He was a skilled mechanic and made many patterns for various foundries. One of the last patterns he made was for a drop step that was used on public conveyances.
He discontinued the pattern trade which impaired his health caused by inhaling the dust from filing and finishing the brass patterns.
He then became a building contractor. Many houses which he built are still standing.
Soon after the flood of 1913 (in Dayton, Ohio with water from the Great Miami River), he went to California, and there he entered the contracting business in Los Angeles. He was one of the main promoters who successfully put through the street that leads directly to the wharf.
Levi married Mary Catherine Urmey in Dayton, Ohio, October 3, 1882, by Reverend John Lemon. Mary was born in Ohio, on Ground Hog Day, February 2, 1862.
Levi was not a member of any church, but was a member at one time of the I.O.O.F and the Trades Union. He died in a hospital in Los Angeles, California, June 24, 1932. His body was cremated and the remains were interred in the family lot in Maple Grove (Polk) Cemetery in Butler Township, Montgomery County, Ohio.
Levi and his wife had 3 children: Imo, Leo and Leonard.
