  AGED SILAS HARVEY PASSED AWAY THIS MORNING
  At 4 o'clock this morning Silas Harvey died at his home on Poplar St. in this city at the age of seventy-eight years. He had long been in ill health suffering from ailments that were contracted in the war. His death had been expected since the latter part of the week.
  Silas Harvey came to this county from Hamilton County, he having resided in the county to the south of us for many years but during the past forty years of his life he had resided in Tipton County living during the greater portion of his time in the Ekin community.
  A few years ago when the aged veteran became so feeble that he could no longer follow the pursuit of the farm he moved to Tipton and had resided here since that time. When the call from troops came in the war of the rebellion Mr. Harvey went to the front and fought through that awful conflict, he taking part in a number of important fights and won honors as a faithful soldier. He was a member of Co. A 101st Ind. The deceased had been twice married, his first wife being Miss Meeks, she died a number of years ago, there being three children from this union living, they being: Elmer Harvey of this city, George Harvey of Elwood and Alpheus Harvey of the Hobbs neigborhood. Twenty eight years ago he was united in marriage to Mary Fawbush and she survives him.
  The funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home in this city, the services being conducted by Rev. McIntosh and Rev. Balser. The burial will be in Fairview. **
  Son of Caleb Harvey 1803/1845 & Bathsheba Pegg Nicholson 1802/1860. Married:(1) dec 10, 1865 Sarah Agnes Meek (2) Mary J (Beard) Forbush Mar 31, 1880. Father of: George Augustus Harvey, Nancy Elmira Havey (Benson), Cyrus Elmer Harvey, Hiram Alpheus Harvey, and Mary Asenall Harney.
