Note: Military Service: Civil War:Co C, 46 Ind Inf Wounded in battle at Port Gibson (Magnolia Hill) and died that night. His brother Edward saw him fall wounded and with the assistance of Edward Lovejoy (whose brother fell at the same time) carried him to an old church where lay many of the wounded. Austin requested his brother to take his equipment and go and fight the rebels because he was done for. But Edward and Lovejoy remained with the brothers until they died, and after burying them rejouned their company. ---
