Notes
a. Note:   Gus, being the eldest son, helped assume some of the financial responsibility for his family, by working in a local grocery store after school and on week-ends. He graduated from highschool in 1919. He then worked as a ticket agent for the Pennsylvania Railroad for several years, but lost that job during the Great Depression. He eventually got a job at the FOCO Refinery where he worked until his death. He also did carpentry work for a local contractor. Gus was a smoker which is probably why he died of a brain tumor at the age of 54.
