  Petition of son James stating father died intestate with land in Drumore Township leaving a widow Martha since dec'd & 5children to wit:William, Elizabeth now a widow, Mary, James (petioner), & Martha intermarried with William Ritchie and since dec'd leaving 7 children Samuel, James, William, Robert, John Irwin, Joseph Alexander and Mary Ann all in their minority request their father William Ritchie be appointed guardian.
  June 28th 1823 James McPherson dec'd In the petition of James McPherson one of the children of James McPherson deceased late of Drumore Township & County aforesaid who died intestate Setting Forth That the said James McPherson lately died intestate seized in his testimony as of fee of and in a certain plantation or tract of land with the appurtenances situate in the Township and County aforesaid Containing two hundred & twenty acres be the same more or less and bounded by lands of the petitioner, Philip Housekeeper, Seth Kinsley, Francis A. Latta, James Ankrim & others, that the said James McPherson at the time of his decease left a widow named Martha since deceased and five children, to wit, William, Elizabeth, who is now a widow, Mary, James your petitioner & Martha intermarried with William Ritchie. That the said Martha died since the decease of her said father leaving seven children (to wit) Samuel, James, William, Robert, John Irwin, Joseph Alexander and Mary Anne who are all in their minority & for whom the court are respectfully request to appoint their said father William Ritchie their guardian; your petitioner therefore prays your honorable court to award an inquest to divide the said premises & ascertain whether the same can be divided to & amongst the children & representatives of the said James McPherson deceased according to Law, without prejudice to & spoiling the whole; and if they find the same cannot be so divided that they themselves & truly inquire whether the said premises will conveniently accommodate more then one of the children or legal representatives of the deceased without prejudice to & spoiling the whole & if so that they make partition accordingly and will & truly appraise each first part; but if they find the same cannot be so divided that they well & truly appraise the whole & make return of their proceedings to the next Orphans Court on the third Monday of September next; petition read inquest awarded & guardian appointed as Prayed for in petition.
