They are shown in the 1850 Census as living in Margaretta Township, Erie County. James, age 26, is a carpenter. Flora's age is given as 18. (James' sister Sarah and family are shown just before James and Flora on the census.)
An 1886 History of Seneca County, Ohio by Warner, Beers & Co. includes information on Flora's remarriage to James Paine (p. 708). It mentions that Flora and James had a son, James, who died in infancy. James Sr. is described as "a mechanic in Castalia, Ohio, where he was well and favorably known for many years."
