  Auburn – Percy R. Hanscom age 83, died November 8, 2015 at Clover Manorin Auburn. He was born in Bar Harbor June 26, 1932 the son of Stanley and Mildred Gray Hanscom.   Percy was a graduate of Bar Harbor High. On October 2, 1954 he married Helen Martha McPherson, she predeceased him February 12, 1997. 
  Mr. Hanscom or Percy to all his friends worked at Northern Electric in Brunswick before starting his career at Regional Hospital where he worked his way up to become the Director of the Maintenance department. He was a licensed boiler operator, proficient in electrical, plumbing and building trades. While immersed in the hospital maintenance field, he became the President of the New England Hospital Engineers.  He retired from Regional Hospital in 1991. In his retirement he and Helen enjoyed traveling and splitting their time between their homes in Florida and Maine.
  After Helen’s passing he found a special companionship with G. Carolyn Smith of Monmouth.  They spent time between Florida and their lake home on Cobbosseecontee Lake in Monmouth.Percy spent many hours dedicated to the Lions Club of Brunswick and Freeport Traveling to various venues in Maine, New England and Canada with his longtime friends, Steve Gargiulo and Maynard Smith. 
  He became the President of the Brunswick Lions and was instrumental in the building of a snack shack on the Topsham Fairgrounds where he served many hamburgers out of "Percy’s Kitchen”.  He was also famous for his back yard fund raisers, social gathering and lobster bakes. 
  Surviving are his three sons, John and his wife Kim of Bowdoin, James and his wife Linda of Windham and Jeffrey and his wife Joan of Topsham.  A sister, Molly (Hanscom) Frost and her husband Donald of Bar Harbor, two nieces Nykki Frost Grindle and Paula Lamoureux of Southwest Harbor and nephew, Tom Frost of Vermont.  He is survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
  Special thanks to Clover Healthcare especially the staff of Carlo Living Center and Dublin Place.  We are eternally grateful for the kind and caring services of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Services of Auburn.
  There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal Street, Brunswick, Maine.  Burial Services will take place directly after the service at New Meadows Cemetery in Brunswick.  After the burial, there will be at a gathering at 11 Madelyn Avenue, Topsham.
