a. Note:   N6945 Age 69 years. Buried November 21, 1889. The following information is from her death certificate: At the time of her death she was a Widow. Her father was born in Pennsylvania and her mother in the District of Columbia.
  Susan married John Saunders Edwards on May 8, 1838 in Washington, District of Columbia. Her father was Commander Joseph Stout McPherson (1789-1826) of the United States Navy. His burial site is unknown. His surname is also found spelled as MacPherson. She was the granddaughter of Robert Washington and Alice Struther. Robert was a cousin of General George Washington.
