a. Note:   N677 ARCHIBALD ANKRUM: Prepared by Pat Brown Martin. Archibald and his wife, Elizabeth Long lived in Drumore Township, Pennsylvania until 1804 when be bought a Plantation in Chester County, in West Nottingham, Pennsylvania. He paid $800 for 195 acres and lived ther e until 1814. He then sold out to Timothy Kirk and John Blackburn for t he sum of $4,300.00. Then with two mules and a covered wagon, along wi th family ranging from two years to twenty years, he arrived in Harriso n County, Ohio, in the year 1814.
  He purchased 160 acres from Matthew Kennedy. Being the north west quar ter of section 31 in twp 10 in the 5th range. He paid the sum of $1,50 0.00 for it.
  He platted the town of New Vienna. It was later called Cassville. At t his time, only the cemetery remains to be seen. Coal stripping took ev ery sign of the town away. He had a public sale and sold about 30 lots t o new settlers and they quickly began building cabins. He stayed there u ntil 1830, then moved to Moorefield. The 1840 Census, shows he lived i n Cambridge, Ohio working as a shoe Cobbler. The census of 1850 shows h im living in Freeport Twp., Harrison County, where he must have died.
  Most all of his children were married in the Presbyterian Church by Wil iam Wallace or Rev. John Hattery.
  The 1850 Census shows his wife, Elizabeth and a 4 year old boy (a son o f Samuel), living with Archibald. Samuel's first wife had died.
  1860 Census shows Elizabeth and this same boy, living with a son of Archibald (Samuel).
  Archibald died between 1850 and 1860.
