Note: Write up William Absolam Booth - author =unknown: William Absolam Booth was born Jan 22, 1842 in Elbert County, the son of Nathaniel Booth and Martha Ann Colvard Booth. On Oct 15, 1861, he enlisted in Company H (Goshep Blues, Wright Legion) of the 38th Geogia Regiment Volunteer Infantry, Confederate States Army, as a private, regimental bass drummer. He was elected second sergeant on Sept. 22, 1862. He was wounded in the Batttle of Fredricksburg, Va. on Dec. 13, 1862 and was disabled, but later was on special service with G.W. Lee's battallion in Georgia in 1865. Booth was captured in Macon in April 1865. After the Civil War, William and his parents moved to Cobb County. On Sept. 4, 1873, William married Carline Rosina Carrie. they established a farm just north of Big Shanty, now know as Kennesaw. The couple had 9 children, and the two youngest, Susie and Carrie, still survive. William Booth died on Feb. 15, 1897 and is buried in Grensham Cemetery in Cobb County
