Her engines had failed of f Troup Head andshe ran around in Aberlour Bay. The wife of a local farmer, J ane Whyte, who had gone to check her husband's boat, found theship aground an d waded into the sea to catch a rope thrown bythe crew - by use of this ro pe, all the crew managed to getsafley ashore. Jane Whyte was awarded a silver me dal by theRNLI for the act - there is a memorial at the site of her houseat Aberlour beach to commemorate to rescue."
