Note: n 1910 and 1912 while taking care of Lord Hanbury. Ella Teresa Nally wrote this letter dated Monterey California May 16th Year Unknown. Dear Anna Mae & Family: Read your nice letter telling me of Ann Murphy's death. I didn't know them. I only Knew one Aunt in Ireland. ?looks like she wrote, Bid Coyn/Coyer, but on my Mother's side, I knew them all. Aunt Julia Was my Mother's Sister. Mary Fleming in Cincinatti would know them all, she was back there visiting the Flemings, were all well educated. My Grandfather was a Squire, Spoke English and Galic, or Irish as I would say. My Mother had a good Voice and use to sing a good deal just like your father and Mother did. I can't realize I am as old as I am. Guess I must take after my father's people. Flemings died young. Aunt Julia was 3 weeks old when her Mother Died., She was the last of the Flemings, your Grandmother's family. We too had a death in our family. My Brother in law, he was just a youngster, when I got in the family, I got him and his sister Ruth ready for their first communion, and confirmation. He was alway's like my own brother, so good to me. Ruth misses him too. We are going to take her to Colorado to visit her girl there. She is married to a miner & they got 8 children. We were there a few years ago. It is a nice mining town. Zinc and Lead mines. A two day's jouney, one night we stay in Salt Lake City, Ruth is a good driver, Just like you, and Charles is also a good Driver, but I don't drive anymore. Give our Best to Johnnie and Treen You father, and your family. Enclosed in some information for your family tree. I still have a notion to visit Ireland some day. It is not too late yet. Charles is not fond of traveling but Ruth is and she is free to go everywhere, and got the wherewith to do it. Do write again Ann Mae it is nice to hear from you. I don't remember you writing me about Fr Murphy. Am sending some cards & clippings of Richard's death he was the youngest of the family. Just Charles and Ruth now. Charles is keeping well & so am I. Thank God. For Same. Love to all of you from Aunt Della. ANOTHER LETTER DATED Jan. 3RD, 1963. Monterey California Jan. 3rd 63 Dear Anna Mae & Joe. Thanks for your lovely golden card, with the big Red Rose on It. It is different from all the other cards I got. Yes we got many lovely gifts, cards. and plants. Got a cable Gram from England. We left here December 27, its our day. Retraced our steps of 50 years ago, Left Watsonville went to Santa Cruz to be married, back to Watsonville for wedding feast, then to Monterey 27- 28-29 to San Francisco 30 Dec. Plus Jan. 1, 1913, got back to Watsonville on the Sixth of January. Lived there until October 1914.Come to Monterey with Charley's folks, then got this house in February 1915 been here ever since. Filled on Homestead in 1916. Started to improve it October 1916 kept adding on th it from time to time. Got our paten to 640 Acres in 1921 before I went East. Then we bought out the neighbors, after they got Title to theirs, & bought some from Government, until we had 2300 acres. It was lots of work in the early years, but it paid off well, and I think it was a healthy life, but I don't advise any young folks to tie themselves down the way we did. But you see Charlies folks homesteaded when he was a boy, so it was not new to him. No more Government land now, California is built up so. Its not like it was 50 or 60 years ago. We traveled horseback & with Horse & cart, & wagons. ?eval Oil Lamps and candles in those early years. Built our own roads. Made our own Lumber to build house and Barn, so you see we got a lot to celebrate now. Relive those 50 years back, but thank God for it all. I don't regret any of it. Now we can go places at a day's notice. Did I anwer all your questions. Ann Mae. Love from us now Chas & Della. P.S. We did drink a toast to you and others. We stayed at Resetar? Hotel in Watsonwille & visited Santa Cruz & around from there got home here for New Years. before Heavy Traffic Started. Thank you again Anna Mae.
Note: Charle and Della had no children. Charles had a child in England betwee
