  "Charles Elroy Hagan, age 55, of Alliance, lost his battle with cancer, March 25, 2005, at 4:33 a.m. at the home of his caregivers, Frank and Melissa Spencer.
  He was born, August 15, 1949, to Charles Russell and Mary Helen (Freshley) Hagan of Marlboro.
  He graduated from Marlington High School in 1967. Mr. Hagan was owner of Hagan and Hagan Trucking Co. and Hagan and Hagan Scrap Yard. He was formerly employed by Conrail Railroad.
  He was strongly committed to the Democratic Party and served his fellowman selflessly, always a champion of fair treatment for all. He was a member of the 17th and 16th District Democratic Party and the Mahoning County Democratic Party, and was a Precinct Committeeman for 12 years.
  He is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Sandra Kay Hagan Hillman; three sons, Charles James Hagan of Alliance, David Wayne Hagan of Atlanta, Ga. and Richard Ray Hagan of Dayton; grandchildren, Eliza May Hagan, Charles Jay Hagan IV, and Michael Douglas Hagan of Alliance; sisters, Marikay (Michael) Colbert and Marjorie Battershell of Alliance; brothers, Thomas M. (Betty Whiteleather) Hagan of Alliance, and the Hon. John P. (Tina) Hagan of Marlboro; and many nieces and nephews.
  He was loved and greatly respected by all. Special friends are Frank and Melissa Spencer and family who lovingly cared for him during his illness, and Richard Pennybacker.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, and nephew, Anthony Battershell.
  Services will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Deans Funeral Home with the Pastor Kenneth Price officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Marlboro Cemetery.
  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Democratic Party or donors choice.
  Arrangements are by Deans Funeral Home, Sebring."
