Notes
a. Note:   H4231
Note:   Martin reports in The Hazen Family Genealogy that, according to Hazen family oral tradition, William, who worked as a carpenter, moved to Alabama to find work in the 1890's and took his family with him. In 1897, William, Marietta, and two of their children, Marie and William Oscar, contracted typhoid fever there and Marietta is the only one of the four who survived. It is believed that they were living in Hunstville, Alabama at that time.
According to Maple Hill Cemetery records (this is the largest and oldest cemetery in Alabama), William is buried in the 4th Block, Row 1 of the cemetery and his grave bears a marker inscribed with his birth and death dates.
