Note: After she and Osby divorced, Hattie married Charles David Berry (11 July 1910 - 4 October 1970). Hattie's obituary in a March 1992 edition of the Daily Record (Canon City, Fremont County, Colorado) is as follows: "Hattie M. Berry of Canon City died at Canon Lodge March 15, 1992, at the age of 89. She was born Oct. 26, 1902, in Rutland, Ohio to Harry and Lorinda (Phillips) Nelson. Mrs. Berry came to Canon City in 1929 from Ohio. She raised her family at Hillside and returned to Canon City to make her home in 1957. Her family and grandchildren were very special to her. She attended the first United Methodist Church. She is survived by five children: Russel (Eunice) Berry, Hilliside; Mollie Roscoe, Westcliffe; Peggy Jones, Pueblo; John (Leona) Berry, Canon City ; Bonnie Coral, Salida; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren . She was the last of her family. Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by a son, Max Berry, two grandchildren, one great grandchild, two sisters and a brother. Services will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2 pm at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Sillaman. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute to St. Thomas More Hospice through Wilson Almont Funeral Home". A second obituary published in the Thursday, 19 March 1992 Wet Mountain Tribune (the newspaper of record for the cities of Westcliffe and Silver Cliff in Custer County, Colorado) is as follows: "Services held for Hattie Berry Funeral services were held yesterday, Wednesday, March 18, for Hattie M. Berry, late of Canon City and formerly of Hillside. Mrs. Berry died March 15, 1992 at a Canon City care center at the age of 89. She had been in poor health since Christmas. She was born Oct. 26, 1902 in Rutland, Ohio to Henry and Lorinda (Phillips) Nelson. Mrs. Berry came to Canon City from Ohio in 1929, and lived in Hillside with her family from the early 1930s until 1957 when she returned to Canon City. While here, Mrs. Berry was a housewife and helped on the family ranch. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Canon City . Mrs. Berry is survived by two sons and three daughters: Russell (and wife, Eunice) Berry of Hillside; Mollie Roscoe of Westcliffe; John (and wife, Leona) Berry of Canon City; Peggy Jones of Pueblo; and Bonnie Corl of Salida. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews in Colorado and Ohio. Other survivors include three sisters-in-law: Hattie M. Berry (same name) of Hillside; Mae Berry of Canon City and Annabel Berry of Penrose. Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by a son, Max Berry; two grandchildren ; one great grandchild; two sisters and a brother. Mrs. Berry was the last of her family. Funeral services were held yesterday at the First United Methodist Church in Canon City, with Rev. Dennis Sillaman officiating. Interment was at Lakeside Cemetery there. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to St. Thomas More Hospice in Canon Ci ty through Wilson Almont Funeral Home, which handled arrangements." Hattie and her son, Max, are buried side-by-side and share a marker.
