a. Note:   Frank served as a Private in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War I in the 28th Infantry, 1 Division from the state of West Virginia. He enlisted 15 March 1917 and was discharged 4 June 1920. In France, he was exposed to the poison/nerve gas used by the Germany Army. He received the Bronze Star, Silver Star, and Victory Medal.
  Frank operated a combination gas station and grocery store outside of Pomeroy, Meigs County, Ohio after he and Ellen married. He never fully recovered from being gassed during the war. Frank and Ellen spent time in Arizona twice to see if the climate there would help his lung problem. They finally moved there in 1936.
  According to his death record, Frank died 28 March 1937 at age 43y 11m 4d. His cause of death was cardiac decompensation.
