In the 1930 Meigs County, Ohio Census, John is a farmer in Salisbury Township. He is identified as widowed. His widowed mother, Mary Ann Eblin, as well as three boarders reside with him.
The informant for John's death certificate was Donald Eblin. The record states that John was a divorced miner at the time of his death which was due to cerebral hemorrhage.
