Note:   He was known as "Vince".
  Vince was 5' 3 1/2" tall. He worked as a pipefitter.
  Vince served with the U.S. Marines from 18 August 1944 until 9 August 1946 during World War II and participated in many of the battles in the South Pacific. He attained the rank of corporal.
  Vince suffered from lung cancer for approximately two years before dying at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Osby and Mary, in Pomeroy.
  Vince's obituary in a July, 1980 edition of The Daily Sentinel (Pomeroy, Meigs County, Ohio) contains the following:
  "John Vinson Martin, 60, died Wednesday at the home of his brother, Osby, 2 Coal St., Pomeroy.
  Mr. Martin was born Dec. 5, 1919, a son of the late John and Mary Blankenship Martin. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Eugene (sic: Charles Eugene is one brother; the third brother to predecease Vince was Thearon) and Herbert and a sister, Marilyn.
  Surviving are a son, Donald, Tennessee; six brothers (sic, he was survived by five brothers), Robert, Columbus; Ralph, Beaver, Albert, Chester; Eddie and Osby, both of Pomeroy; six sisters(sic, he was survived by seven sisters as his sister Mrs. Jaret Williams also survived him), Mrs. Thomas (Louise) Mitchell and Mrs. Floyd (Sylvia) George and Mrs. Everett (Edna) See, all of Columbus; Mrs. Richard (Carolyn) Rummell, Nebraska; Mrs. Jack (Connie) Matthews and Mrs. Lowell (Janice) Thompson, Chesapeake, and several nieces and nephews.
  Mr. Martin was a veteran of World Ward II having served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacicic [sic]. He was a plumber. Mr. Martin belonged to the Rutland Pentecostal Church..."
  In a July, 1980 edition of The Daily Sentinel (Pomeroy, Meigs County, Ohio), the following article appeared following Vince's funeral:
  "Numerous friends and relatives were here for the Saturday funeral services of John Vinson Martin at the Ewing Funeral Home. Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery at Middleport. The Rev. Bob Melton officiated.
  Here for the services were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Martin, Beaver; Mr. and Mrs. Everett See, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd George, Mrs. Bessie Mitchell, Mrs. Steven Drown, Miss Patricia Martin, all of Columbus; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Matthews, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Newman, Mrs. Harry Reapp, Gallipolis; Robert Martin, Steven and Stephanie of Alliance; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Thomas, Norton; Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Thompson, Chesapeake; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Martin, Jr., Vincent; Mr. and Mrs. Foster [sic: it's Foyster) Williams, Mary Ellen Mills, Artemus, Ky.; Mr. and Mrs. John Williams, Galloway, and Foster (sic: it's Foyster) Williams, Jr., Galloway."
