Bud's parents were Eli Homer Roush and Virginia Viola Davis.
Bud contracted silicosis from working in the Pomeroy foundry and, as a result, spent most of the last 10 years of his life in a sanitarium in Nelsonville, Athens County, Ohio. Bud had one lung removed and, in 1977, had a stroke. He died of pneumonia.
