He was bornin GibsonCounty, the son of the late Monroe Clinton Blackwell andOraWhitt Blackwell and was educated in the county schools. He wasaretired farmer and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Hewasmarried to the late Rehperttzell Horton Blackwell onNovember 5, 1938.She died on June 29, 1995.
