Note: Obituary for Mary Hemmer Benedict Five days after the death of her husband, Christopher Benedict, Mrs. Mary Benedict died at her home at 307 Mascoutah avenue [Belleville] at 8 o'clock Tuesday evening. She was born in Mascoutah, March 24, 1854, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hemmer, nee Elizabeth Erlinger. She was united in marriage with Christopher Benedict at Belleville, January 14, 1878 [or 1879]. Her husband preceded her in death on April 1. Mrs. Benedict is survived by seven children; Christ Benedict Mrs. Joseph Flach Mrs. Sebastian Kronenberger Mrs. Louis Hohrein, O'Fallon, Ill. Frank Benedict Mrs. Joseph Lehman Mrs. Thomas Czarnecki [all Belleville unless otherwise noted] Fifteen grandchildren and four brothers also survive; Peter Hemmer, O'Fallon, Ill. Anthony Hemmer, O'Fallon, Ill. Louis Hemmer, Belleville, Ill. Edward Hemmer, Belleville, Ill. The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning from the home to St. Peter's Cathedral, thence to Green Mount Cemetery. Belleville Daily News Democrat April 7, 1926
