Note: Herman Reynolds appears in the "Waggoner, Wagoner, Wagner History and Genealogy" document written by Harold Wagner and Richard Spurr, being married to Clara Marie Wagoner on Jan 19, 1934. I have received a copy of Herman Reynolds Social Security Application which verifies his date of birth as being Dec 22, 1910. He was 26 at the time of filing his application which is dated June 7, 1937. His U. S. Employment Service registration card number is 15-47-4005. His fathers name is spelled "Gabriel Evin Reyolds" and his mothers name is spelled "Leotta Wagner" with two 't's. Notice there is only one "g" and no "o". From the 1920 U.S. Federal Census records of Lawrence Co. IN from Indian Creek Township: Dwelling #49, visitation #51. GABRIEL E. REYNOLDS, head, male, white, age 54, married. LEOTA, wife, female, white, age 44, married. DONALD, son, male, white, age 14. HERMAN, son, male, white, age 8 or 9. From the letter of Donald C. Reynolds: Herman's employment was the Works Progress Administration - the famous W.P.A. - which built sidewalks, roads, bridges, dams, state parks, etc. etc., etc., (and gave millions & millions of men - a sense of "worth" & "self-respect" - after lanquishing in the lethargy & idleness - of the Great Depression !!) Only the C.C.C. camps, would come close to the W.P.A. (They put millions & millions of "young people" to work - planting trees, building the National Parks, getting them "off the street", building up their health, giving them regimen, paying them $30.00 per mo. - of which $20.00 - went home, to their parents.) And, and, when W.W. II came along - the C.C.C. camp graduates - were the majority of the U. S. Army - which won W. W. II ! As Tom Brokaw entitled his book - that was "The Greatest Generation"!!!
