I have a copy of two Land Records (Certificate #5439 dated Oct 15, 1835 and 11963 dated Aug 5, 1837) for Jacob Hackler of Lawrence Co., IN, for the purchase of 40 acres, each.
Jacob is listed with John in the 1830 U.S. Federal Census of Lawrence Co., IN.

From the emails of Karen P. Myers: "Your Jacob Hackler & wife Jane Skeen-- He was a son of Jacob Hackler & Rosanna Snyder (I have the parents of both of them). Jacob Hackler was from Grayson Co, VA and your Jacob was born there, as far as we can determine. The original Hackler/Hechler family was from Alsace Lorraine (now France-- probably Germany then, at least part of the time.) They came to York Co, PA and one son, the father of Jacob came to Grayson Co, VA. They were Lutheran, as immigrants and there are church records for some of the children in Quickel's Lutheran Church, York Co, PA. I've been to the Alsace, York Co, and also Grayson Co, VA. It was very interesting to walk in our ancestor's footsteps." - Karen P. Myers
