a. Note:   me. His godfather was Johannes, unmarried son of Peter Back and his wife Othilia. His occupations were listed as shoemaker and day laborer. The shoemaker Johannes Benkert sold plat no.173 (House no.75) and the grass plot on the edge of the village (plat no.201) for 1,100 florins to Michael Sch�ppner on 23 August 1846. At this point the mystery on this family deepens. Johannes sold the house just two months after the birth of his fifth child. Johannes died in 1871 while living with his cousin, Kaspar Benkard, in Haus #1. Yet no mention is made of his wife nor any of the children after 1846 in either Haus #1 or Haus #75. A check of the churchbooks failed to find a death date for Anna Margaretha nor any marriages or deaths for any of the five children. It is possible that after the sale of the property in 1846 that the family moved to a neighboring village and contact with Oberwei�enbrunn was lost over time.
