a. Note:   as first mentioned in 1234 under the Slavic name Sambice. The first charter under the name Munsterberck dated February 1, 1253. In 1268 had the city a mint. Bolko I of Schweidnitz built north of the city, a castle and his son, Bolko II resided from 1321 and the line the Dukes of M�nsterberg was founded. From that date until the end of the 18th century, the domination of the city M�nsterberg are identical with the history of the Duchy. As a result of the Second World War, M�nsterberg dropped in 1945 along with almost all of Silesia to Poland and was renamed in Ziebice. The German population was expelled. The new Polish settlers were partially expellees from eastern Poland.

b. Note:   t three sons were born and they all came to America in the later part of the 19th century. Records in Germany show additional spellings of the Boensch surname as Baensch, B�nisch, Boenisch, B�hnsch, B�hnisch, Boehnsch, Boenisch, Bensch and B�nsch. These names all seemed to be used interchangeably. In Bohemia, there is a Czech or Slovak name Bene�. The last c is pronounced like a "ch" in English. It is possible that Boensch is simply the Germanic version of Beni�. An 1855 description of M�nsterberg stated it was about 35 miles south of Breslau with a population of about 4000. The city was enclosed by walls, had breweries and munufacturers of plush and cotton stuffs.
