a. Note:   . Joseph came to America in 1883. He was a cabinet maker and designer and was a partner and General Manager of the Sonora factory on North Michigan street in Saginaw. His partner, a man named Herzig, sold the company to the Victrola Corporation of New York. Unfortunately for Joseph, the design patents were a part of the partnership and were sold with the business. Joseph was a member of the Saginaw Council No.593, Knights of Columbus, the West Side Arbeiter society and Sacred Heart Commandery, Knights of St. John.

b. Note:   m a head injury received from a fall on the Michigan Central railroad tracks, just 3 weeks after his brother died. Joseph's widow swore his death was foul play since it occurred while Joseph was still fighting the sale of the business.
