a. Note:   George A. Wilson & Avis's daughter, Hattie, lived with Grandparents George & Harriet Shoemaker, after Wilson was killed in the Civil War. As newlyweds, James and Avis received the gift of 160 acres from the wealthy Shoemakers. Later the Holdens lost this land and moved to Fryett, Fulton Co., Arkansas. See George Shoemaker notes. Avis Blakeman: Eggleston Wilson & Avis's daughter, Hattie, lived with Grandparents George & Harriet Shoemaker, after Eggleston was killed in the Civil War. Shoemaker, both of Hopewell. --------------------- Avis Shoemaker Holden pieced a poinsettia designed quilt top for her Granddaughter Ruth Annie Tregemba in 1902. Ruth Annie had it machine quilted in the 1940's. Avis Blakeman then had this quilt and gave it to Ruth I. Stude in 1992.
