Note: Avis Blakeman: Their granddaughter, Hattie Wilson, lived with them after her mother, Avis, married her 2nd. husband, James H. Holden and the Holdens moved on to Osage Co, KS, near Overbrook. I was told that Hattie's father died in the Civil War and the Shoemakers felt they could give Hattie an easier life in their home than Avis & James could in a Kansas pioneer home. It is believed that Hattie & Avis only saw each other once after that, but kept in touch by letters. ________________ It looks like my George Abram Shoemaker married after Harriet died since I do not know of another George A. Who this is I do not know, or if he is related. In the 1860 census I found A.C. Shoemaker in Bradford, Steuben Co., NY, age 30 yrs. (born <1830>) listed as a harnessmaker. So he could be a son or nephew of George or Peter. There is not an A.C.
