On 28th May 1792 at Breage Church, by Banns, James HOSKEN, tinner, married Grace RICHARDS, in the presence of Benjamin HOSKEN and Thomas JOHNS. All signed except Grace. # (I noted that the Banns for their marriage had previously been published February/March 1790 - I wonder why they didn't marry at that time.) Nothing is known about Grace. (note: these must be Edward's siblings but she listed with Edward's (born c. 1801) children. -- ris) THOMAS Bapt. 1st January 1804. A Thomas HOSKYN (bachelor) married Grace SYMONS (spinster) on 8th Sept 1827 at Breage, by Banns. Both signed. They were married in the presence of Edward HOSKIN. # ELIZA Bapt. 15th February 1807. Eliza HOSKEN, a spinster, married William ALLEN, bachelor, on 27th August 1826 at Breage, by Banns. Neither signed. They were married in the presence of James HOSKEN. # GRACE Bapt. 25th May 1817. Grace HOSKIN (spinster) married Jasper ALLEN (bachelor), both of Breage, on 16th May 1835 at Breage, by Banns. He signed, she made her mark. They were married in the presence of Joseph ALLEN and Edward HOSKING. # ------------------------ Joyce Harris, Winchester, England: James made his Will on 5th November 1826, proved 28th March 1835. WILL of James HOSKIN of Breage, Cornwall Miner (1766-1826) Eldest child of Benjamin HOSKEN, (my 4 x gt.grandfather) and Avis nee HITCHENS, and brother of Benjamin HOSKEN, (my 3 x gt.grandfather.) Made 5th November 1826; Proved 28th March 1835 WILL of James HOSKIN (1766-1826) ................... This is the last Will and Testament of me James Hoskin of the parish of Breage in the County of Cornwall Miner - I give and bequeath unto my dear wife Grace Hoskin All and singular my Dwelling house and other premises together with the rest and residue of my property of what nature or sort soever and wherever situate To hold unto my said wife during her natural life during her widowhood And in case of her marriage or death I bequeath my property in the following manner ---viz. I give and bequeath unto my son Edward the southern or newly built part of my dwelling house - also six chairs, the best table, the clock and all my books - I give and bequeath unto my son William the northern part of my dwelling house - I give and bequeath unto my said sons Edward and William all my lands and crofts with their appurtenances to be equally divided between them in doing which in case my son William disagrees or attempts any disturbance with my said son Edwd his part is to be forfeited to my said son Edward - I give and bequeath unto my children Benjamin, James, Thomas & Eliza the sum of One shilling each - In case my said wife shall happen to die before my daughter Grace Hoskin shall have attained to maturity and becomes able to provide a livelihood for herself, my Will is that my said son(s) Edward & William support her during her incapacity to maintain herself which if they fail doing, the property hereinbefore bequeathed to them shall be forfeited. I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said wife Grace Hoskin the Executrix of this my last Will & Testament revoking all former Wills. In witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand this 5th day of November 1826. Robt Symons Jun >>>>>>>>>>>>>> INSTRUCTIONS FOR EXECUTING THE WITHIN COMMISSION ===== The Commission is directed to the Minister of the Parish where the person who is to make the Affidavit resides, or, in his absence, of an adjoining Parish. Or if it may be necessary to direct it to a Clergyman specially named, a blank is left for that purpose. The Commissioner, when he swears the Executor, will fill up the day on which the Commission is sworn; and if he should not be the Commissioner specially named, add to his signature, "Rector, Vicar, Curate, or Officiating Minister, (as the case may be,) of the Parish or Chapelry of ............." And the like signature, and addition, should be subscribed to the Affidavit of the value of Effects, annexed to the Commission. In calculating this value, and which is to be inserted in the Affidavit, the Debts of the deceased must not, in the first instance, be deducted; but if such Debts make a difference in the Stamp, according to the scale of Duties stated on the back of the Affidavit, the Money overpaid for such Stamp will be allowed, upon making it appear to the Stamp Office, when the Debts are paid, and an account made up what the Effects are, exclusive of Debts. Leasehold Estates are to be included in the valuation, but Freehold are not. JOHN SHEEPSHANKS, Clerk, Master of Arts, ARCHDEACON of the Archdeaconry of CORNWALL, lawfully constituted, To our beloved the Rector, Vicar, Curate or Officiating Minister of the Parish or Chapelry where the Person making the Affidavit, hereinafter mentioned, now resides; or in his absence, the Rector, Vicar, or Officiating Minister of any adjoining Parish or Chapelry, or to John White John - Clerk, GREETING, We hereby commit and impart to you, jointly and severally, our power and authority to administer, in due form of Law, the Canonical Oath subscribed to Grace Hoskin the Widow and Sole Executrix named in the last Will and Testament of James Hoskin - late of the Parish of Breage - within our said Archdeaconry, miner - deceased, and also to swear her to the truth of the Affidavit hereunto annexed; and what you shall do herein you shall duly certify us, or some other competent judge in this behalf, so soon as you can conveniently, together with these presents. And that you will exhibit, or cause to be exhibited, into the Office of the Registry of the Archdeaconry Court of Cornwall, a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods, Chattels, and Credits of the said deceased, which already have, or hereafter shall come to your Hands, Possession, or Knowledge; and yield and pass a true and just account thereof, when thereunto lawfully required. And that the contents of the Affidavit hereunto annexed, and to which you have subscribed your Name were and are true. SO HELP YOU GOD.
