Notes
a. Note:   McIntyre, Mr. James, Kemptville Weekly Advance, May 16, 1907,
Mr. James McIntyre. Another of the well-known and highly respected residents of Mountain passed away at his home on Wednesday of last week. Mr. James McIntyre, about two weeks previous to his death, suffered a paralytic stroke and despite medical skill and and the loving care of his wife and three daughters, the disease made slow but sure progress. And on the day mentioned the pain ceased and he was released from his suffering body.
Mr. McIntyre was of Scotch descent. His father, the late John McIntyre, came from Ayrshire, Scotland, and with his parents settled in Mountain township in 1819. Sixty-nine years ago the late James McIntyre was the first of six children born to John McIntyre and his wife, Christena Ross, formerly of Glengarry. On the 24th of December, 1884, Mr. James McIntyre and Miss Mary Hunter were united in marriage and started housekeeping on the former’s farm in Mountain. Three daughters, the Misses Christena, Lucy and Euphemia were sent to bless this union. The deceased was a kind and indulgent husband and father so that his wife and daughters feel the loss most keenly. They have however pleasant memories of their life together to look back upon and the promise of a sure re-union in the futuer.
The funeral took place on Friday, May 10th. Rev. C.A. Ferguson of South Mountain, assisted by Rev. W.H. Stevens of Kemptville, held a short service at the house. Mrs. (Dr.) Porter and Mrs. (Dr.) Ferrier of South Mountain feelingly sang a piece during the service. The remains were taken to South Gower cemetery for interment. The pall-bearers were Messrs. Elijah McIntyre, John McIntyre, D.W. Munroe, Thos. Ross, Malcolm McIntyre and M.D. McMartin.
Besides his widow and daughters already mentioned, Mr. McIntyre leaves two brothers and two sisters, Dr. Neil of Arizona, who at one time practised in Winchester, John of Mountain, Mrs. S. Rose and Mrs. T. Bow of Winchester. Another brother, Donald, died in Martintown in 1903. Messrs. Elijah and J.P. McIntyre of town are cousins
Among relatives and friends from a distance who were present at the funeral were Messrs. D.W. Munroe and Thos. Ross of Martintown, Miss Tena McIntyre of Potsdam, Mrs. S. Rose, Mr. Thos Bow, and Miss V. Morrison of Winchester, Mrs. Neil Keenan, Miss Keenan, Mrs. Wm Cumming, Mr. Elijah McIntyre, Mr. and Mrs. J.P. McIntyre and Master Lornie and Rev. W.H. Stevens of Kemptville.
