a. Note:   Daniel B. Pelton, Kemptville. On Tuesday morning of this week there was called to his eternal rest one of Kemptville's oldest and most highly respected citizens, in the person of Daniel B. Pelton. The deceased was in his eighty-fourth year, having been born at Pelton's Corners in the township of South Gower, on March 18th, 1830, was a son of Elijah Pelton of the same place. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Cooke who predeceased him some twelve years ago. The result of this union was two sons and two daughters. One of the sons,. Edson, having died some thirteen years ago. The two daughters, Emma and Mrs. P. Higginson, together with the other son, Charles C., still survive him. He was the fifth son in a family of fifteen children, only three of whom are living, namely: Elijah Pelton of South Gower; James Pelton of Brandon, Man.; and Mrs. John Christie, of Vancouver, B.C. He was engaged in the mercantile business for some years, but of late his health has been of such that active duties were impossible. However, death was unlooked for so soon, he having been around on Monday, ate his supper and retired as usual. But was seized by a stroke in the night and passed away about eight-thirty o'clock Tuesday morning. He was an active member of the Baptist church and took a deep interest in all Christian and moral reform. The funeral will be held today at his late residence at two p.m. The service being conducted by the Rev. Geo. S. Clendinnen, interment in the Union cemetery.
