Cecilia can trace her roots back to the first settlement of Port Royal, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia. She is a direct descendant of Etienne Robichaux_Robicheau who came from La Chaussee, Poitou, Martaize, France in 1600's. Source: James A. Hubley, 2004.
On the 1911 census Cecelia and her daughter Lillian Cecelia Hubley were living with her parents in Chezzetcook, Halifax Co., NS. It is possible that he was away at sea, as he was listed as being a merchant seaman at one time, in a newspaper story upon his retirement from Transit Department of Nova Scotia Light and Power Company, Limited. (James A. Hubley)
One story I remember about my grandmother was in the early 1970's when she came my home in Upper Tantallon for the first time. When she thought no one was watching she ran her finger along the top of a book shelf checking for dust. Marleen still smiles about this, because finding none meant that she passed my grandmothers test and was a good wife. The other thing that stands out was that she was hard of hearing and always asked for you to speak up. But if you whispered something you didn't want her to hear she never missed a word. (James A. Hubley, April 2007)
