Notes
a. Note:   s, DE that he did the usual "sweeping" of his hand under the beds to make sure we didn't leave anything behind. One of these times he ended up with a splinter from the wood floor in one of his fingers which he was never able to remove and over a period of about 20 years it became cancerous. The finger was amputated but over the next 10 years or so he was diagnosed with several types of cancer within his body. It eventually settled in his lungs and became terminal.

Note:   Bob's cancer: Bob died of cancer of the lungs. It was very surprising as he had only smoked a very short time while in the navy but he had mentioned a time when we were kids going on vacation in Lewe
