a. Note:   Yes, I was in the Jesuits from 1960 to the end of 1969. I was grateful for the experience, but toward the end I knew this was not the life for me. I never made it to ordination. Like your uncle Bill, a WWII radioman, I was a radioman in the Coast Guard Reserve for 26 years. And I was a reserve police officer in Walnut Creek CA for 14 years. My day job was a Telecom Tech for Pacific Gas & Electric for 37 years. Loved all three ways of staying out of trouble.
