Paulding Democrat Feb 11, 1926 John Luther Kiracofe, son of William and Matilda (Malinda) Kiracofe was born in Augusta county, Virginia February 18, 1854 and departed his earthly existence on February 2, 1926, at the age of seventy-one years, eleven months and fourteen days. He was a member of a family of ten children and his father being a United Brethern minister early taught him to follow in the steps of our heavenly Father whose teachings he was always truthfully and faithfully followed. In October 1879 he was united in marriage to Martha A. McBride. To this union were born five children, the mother and three children having preceeded him in death. Of this marriage Alta of Denver, Colorado and Lest Otterbein, of Paulding, survive. In January 1894, he was again married to Fannie B. Mapes. To this union were born six children, Mrs. W.F. Wallace of Washington DC; Mrs. M.F. Weaver of Pioneer, Ohio; Mr. W.R. Kiracofe of Winchester, Indiana; John Jr. and Wilbur at home, with who the loving mother all survive to mourn their loss. In 1895 he moved to Paulding, Ohio, in which place he successfully reared his family and conducted his business. Soon after moving here he joined the Methodist church and has always been a most enthusiastic and loyal worker in the church and Sunday School. He always had a hearty handshake and a cordial smile for either friend or stranger and during his stay here he had endeared to him a wide acquaintance and innumerable friends who of one accord feel that in his passing this world has lost and the other world has distinctly gained. In the summer of 1924 he disposed of his business intersts here and moved to Denver, Colorado, where he had continued to reside up tuntil the time of his death.
